Overview

It is not uncommon for a 3rd party consultant or company, such as an IT firm or bookkeeper service, to join TechSoup on behalf of their clients.  

3rd parties joining TechSoup should be aware of the following best practices and requirements that will help ensure their qualification review and requesting nonprofit offers go smoothly. 

Add an Individual from Your Client Organization

Organizations are welcome to have multiple individuals representing them on TechSoup.

3rd party consultants and companies are encouraged to add at least one individual from their client organization to also represent the organization on TechSoup.

Terms of Use: Nonprofit Offers Acquired Through TechSoup

In coordination with our corporate partners’ guidelines, most products and services obtained through TechSoup must only be used by the requesting organization and may not be given or sold to other organizations or individuals — even as part of a charitable or fiscally sponsored program.

3rd party consultants and companies are not allowed to use a client’s TechSoup account to request nonprofit offers on behalf of a different client.

Multiple Organizations: Joining, Eligibility, & Placing Orders

After joining TechSoup as an individual member, 3rd parties can add as many organizations to their TechSoup account as needed.  From their single member account, 3rd parties can request nonprofit offers on behalf of all of their clients.

Please keep the following in mind before joining TechSoup or requesting a nonprofit offer. 

NOT AVAILABLE: Bulk Registration for Multiple Individual Organizations

For every client who wishes to join TechSoup, 3rd party consultants and companies will be required to add each organization separately, so TechSoup can complete the qualification and eligibility review for each organization’s account.

If the organization has joined TechSoup in the past, individuals will be prompted for an association code.  The association code will confirm that the individual is authorized to add the existing organization account to their member account on TechSoup.

NOTE: We do not recommend re-registering the organization if you cannot locate the association code; duplicate organization accounts are not allowed, and it will cause delays.  Instead, contact TechSoup Customer Service if you are unable to move forward.

Eligibility Will Vary per Client

Eligibility for offers will vary according to an organization’s information such as size, budget, location, or mission.  Additionally, some nonprofit programs will have quantity allotments that restrict the minimum or maximum quantity an organization is allowed to request of the same offer or from the same program.

This means that while some clients are eligible for a nonprofit offer, other clients will not be eligible for the same offer.  3rd party consultants and companies are not allowed to work around eligibility restrictions by using an eligible client’s TechSoup account to request nonprofit offers on behalf of an ineligible client.

NOT AVAILABLE: Bulk Ordering Across Multiple Individual Organization Accounts.  

Nonprofit offers will need to be requested through each organization’s individual TechSoup account by the organization itself or the 3rd party.  Learn how to request nonprofit offers on TechSoup.

Before Checking Eligibility or Requesting an Offer, Confirm the Correct Organization is Active

Before moving forward with checking an organization's eligibility or placing a request for a nonprofit, in your TechSoup account, under "ACTIVE", select the bubble icon for the organization who you will be supporting in that session.

The following should help 3rd party consultants and companies efficiently join TechSoup.

Generic Member Names Not Allowed

When joining TechSoup as a member, individuals are required to provide the first and last name of the person representing your organization on TechSoup.  Some of TechSoup’s corporate partners require the name of a contact for each recipient organization before they will allow a request to be processed and fulfilled.  

Due to these fulfillment requirements, TechSoup cannot accept generic member names; for example, “your company name”, “IT Dept”, or “the organization name”.

Email Addresses

It is important to use an email address that delivers to a monitored inbox.  We do not recommend using an email address associated with an automated support ticketing system.

Member Email Address

The email address used to login to TechSoup will be one of the contacts for the organization’s TechSoup account.

Organization Email Address

The organization email is the main contact for the organization.  This is where request confirmation emails, fulfillment emails, renewal notifications, and other important TechSoup communications will be sent.
