Donated vs Discounted
Donated
Donated on-premises products are provided as a donation from Microsoft, but you pay TechSoup a small administrative fee when you request them. This fee helps support all programs for nonprofits and libraries.
Donated "Computer Labs Only" products are available for use on computer labs, that are accessed by an organization's beneficiaries or the general public. They are not allowed to be installed on an employee or volunteer's computer to support the organization's operations.
Discounted
Discounted on-premises products cost a bit more compared to the donated products, but they still represent a savings of up to 75 percent compared to retail pricing. You may request unlimited quantities of these licenses through TechSoup.
Discounted products can be requested with or without Software Assurance benefits. For more information about Software Assurance benefits check out Software Assurance Benefits Included with Microsoft Products.

Microsoft for Nonprofits Program Changes: April 2022
Beginning April 4, 2022, most on-premises products will only be available at a discounted rate, and quantity allotments will no longer be reset. However, these tools will continue to be available at a donated rate as cloud offers, including downloadable desktop applications.
