Overview
TechSoup is sometimes able to validate separate accounts for limited liability companies (LLCs) and the nonprofit organizations with which they are associated. Validation for the second account requires a two-step process:
- Verification that the entity is a single-member LLC treated as a disregarded entity of (and whose sole member is) a 501(c)(3).
- Determination whether the LLC meets TechSoup’s Multi-Branch Organization Policy requirements.
After joining TechSoup, contact TechSoup Customer Service and request an LLC Eligibility Review.
1. Single-Member LLC Treated as a Disregarded Entity
Governing documents, such as an operating agreement, to sufficiently establish the entity as a single-member LLC treated as a disregarded entity of the 501(c)(3). Describe organizational activities and explain how those activities support the 501(c)(3) organization’s mission.
2. TechSoup Multi-Branch Organization Verification
We will review your organization websites to determine if the LLC and 501(c)(3) entities meet criteria for our Multi-branch Organization Policy.
If your LLC does not have a separate website, you must submit a document that:
- verifies that the LLC is organizationally and geographically separate; and that
- verifies the need for separate donations based on computing infrastructure and/or other factors.
