Organization types are based on your organization as a whole and cannot be based on individual programs, departments, projects or activities.  Your organization may be classified as:

• Organization type: Business and Professional Organizations
• Organization sub-type: Professional association

The sub-type, Professional Association, covers learned societies, professional councils, and other organizations that bring together individuals or organizations with a common professional or vocational interest within a specific area of employment. Common features of Professional Associations can include, but are not limited to:

• Paid membership and/or fee-based learning, resources, etc.
• Networking and conferences
• Professional certification or accreditation, and related programs
• Professional development, training, and learning
• Continued education opportunities
• Recruitment for a specific area of employment or vocational interest
