Overview
TechSoup will no longer be reselling .ORG domains. While we continue to believe that having a unique domain—especially a .ORG—is an important tool for nonprofits, the program is not sustainable for TechSoup. For that reason, we’ve made the difficult decision to end it.
Nonprofits with active renewals through TechSoup will receive an email detailing the end of the Domain Names for Nonprofits Program as well as the instructions on how to transfer their domain to a different host.
Please complete the transfer or cancel your domain within 60 days.
What should I do if I purchased a domain through TechSoup?
If you purchased your domain from TechSoup, you will need to transfer it to a new registrar.
- Transferring your domain will not interrupt your website or email services.
- After the transfer, you will manage all renewals and payments directly with your new registrar.
- Once TechSoup receives confirmation that your domain has been transferred, we will automatically process a refund for your current subscription. You do not need to submit a separate request.
How do I transfer my domain?
- Choose a new registrar (examples: GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hover, Domain.com, or another ICANN-accredited registrar).
- Start the transfer process with your chosen registrar. They will ask for your authorization (EPP) code.
- Locate your code: You should have received it by email from TechSoup. If you cannot find it, contact us at services@techsoup[.org].

- Approve the transfer: Your new registrar will send you a confirmation email—follow the steps to complete the transfer.
Please complete the transfer within 60 days to ensure continuity of service.
Where do I transfer it to?
The choice of registrar is up to you. Many technology service providers include domain registration as part of a service bundle. Reputable options in the U.S. include GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hover, and Domain.com.
I changed my mind - I don’t want my domain anymore. Can I just cancel it instead of transferring?
You don’t have to renew your domain if you don’t plan to use it. If you would prefer to cancel your domain, please send us an email at services@techsoup[.org] with your domain name, organization name, and email address. We will refund your money for the cancelled domain.

How will refunds work?
We will refund the full amount of your current annual subscription. Once TechSoup receives notification that your domain has successfully transferred, we will process the refund automatically. Other than completing your transfer, no additional action is required.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Transfers usually complete within five to seven business days, depending on the registrar.
