What is the Domain Name System (DNS)?
DNS stands for Domain Name System and is essentially the directory of the Internet. In a phone book, we have people’s names associated with specific phone numbers. Similarly, the DNS associates domain names with website hosting addresses (Internet Protocol, or IP, addresses) so that web browsers, like Chrome and Safari, can connect domain names to websites.
